Church: Keys

Last night I went to church to collect a printer to print out some suff, (My photoprinter at home only works when it feels like it). I unloocked the gate and went through church, got my printer and came out the side door.

About 10 young people scattered when I came out. I went to lock the gate and descovered they had niked the lock. I wandered round the corner to ask them for it back, they saw me and ran. I got very annoyed. So I chased them down a few of the streets, trying to stop my trousers from falling round am ankles, shouting at the top of my voice “I OLNLY WANT THE LOCK”, “JUST GIVE ME THE LOCK”, “ALL I WANT IS THE LOCK”.

All to no avail I’m afraid. I didn’t get the lock. John is going to replace the lock today. I wouldn’t mind but if they hadn’t stolen the lock no one would know that they had been playing football in the yard. Now all 30 keyholders have to know and it reflects badly on the people that stole it.

House Rennovations: The Return of the builders

A week last Saturday my Father in law and two of my brothers in law came and we worked all day screeding the floor. It was shocking hard work and the finish wasn’t as good as I had hoped. But at least the floor is down, nothing some leveling compound can’t sort!

I will be able to test the underfloor heating once the screed has cured properly. I suspect it will be about two weeks before it is fully done.

The builders returned yesterday, I could have kissed them! They are framing and dry lining. The two chaps are quite good with the wood. They seem to be working much faster than when they were putting up the damp proof membrane.

The kitchen is being remeasured on Monday. We have ordered the cooker. Finally it seems to be coming back together.

It’s great!
