About

Isaac, Alice and ElizabethI am married to Louise, every time I go to a wedding or see a fake one on the T.V. it reminds me of the moment Louise entered the church to a drum roll and walked down the isle to “The Entrance of the Queen of Sheba” nothing I have ever done has been so exciting, nerve racking and exhilarating all in one go. We now have three Children: Isaac, Alice and Elizabeth. My brother is Vicar of St. Nicholas’ and St. Luke’s in Deptford and I have family members scattered all over the country. Louise has so many siblings cousins, nieces and nephews I loose count.

Eric Morecambe Statue, MorecambeI trained for being a church minister at a Church of England college, St. John’s College in Nottingham. I was the only person on my course who wasn’t training to become a Church of England Vicar, but they were all nice enough to me. While I was training I was the student Minister at Barrow upon Soar Baptist Church and I led what was then a church plant in Long Whatton. When we completed our time in Long Whatton we set sail for the North West and I became Minister for the church that meet on Stanley Road in Morecambe. We moved in to Morecambe on our seventh wedding anniversary. The people who sold us our house were uncommunicative, unhelpful and didn’t clear the house until 5pm. The actual process of moving house ranks as one of the most stressful things I have ever done. When we discovered the basement flooded and the roof leaked we felt like we were climbing a mountain without a summit. We do think we have reached the summit now and are just enjoying doing routine maintenance. I am sure we will have to move again one day. The further away that day is the better!

The boundaries between my work and my hobbies are very hard to define. I love most of my work and am involved with the Baptist Missionary Society as a member of the council of Reference (which sounds rather grander than it is) and the Incarnate Network as “Geek” and pod caster. I am also involved in research where I am comparing the Social and Political background to two groups of people who started churches; one in the late 1700’s early 1800’s and the other who are starting churches now. If you are really interested you can read my proposal.

For fun I design a few web sites (I love Wordpress, it does all the hard work of publishing and you can do the fun stuff), play with computers (I’m particularly keen on the open source operating system Ubuntu), walk up hills (though not as often as I should), eat great food (perhaps more than I should), and travel round the country visiting family members.
