Isaac has just discovered e.mail. This morning he has spent half an hour composing a small e.mail to his cousin. Being aware that a red line underneath means a word is spelt wrong he has comes down to the kitchen to ask how to spell something. At first I thought this was good, because he was learning spelling, and I was glad that he didn't know how to use the spell checker (which robs you of your ability to think).
However, after four visits, half an hour, and only one sentence, I just taught him the wonders of the right mouse button.
Granny bought Isaac a bike for his birthday (last September), there wasn't much chance to learn how to ride it over the winter. HE is doing really well now and we rode from the Battery Hotel in Morecambe to the beach at Heysham. It was fun, only he kept falling off! I took these pictures on my mobile phone. The sound is bad, sorry about that.

Louise was reading Beauty and the beast to Alice. Libby toddles up and peers over the page.
Louise: That's Belle
Libby: (leans over the book and sniffs)
Louise: No, I said that's BELLE.
Libby: (leans over the book and sniffs)
The other day Alice came home from nursery with a box containing two or three books and a few other bits and pieces. It was tea time and Louise and I were rushing round trying to get tea ready and feed Elizabeth. Alice waved some stickers under our noses "What are these for?". We explained that they were "this book belongs to" stickers and that she could write her name on and stick them in the book.
The thought of having books that were both her own and clearly identifiable was appealing to Al and she began to peel a sticker off and stick it to the front of a book. I glimpsed her out of the corner of my eye and shouted "no, stop!". It was too late the sticker was right on the front of the book, half concealing the books title. We peeled the sticker off and managed to put it inside the book and there was no harm done.
It got me thinking. It might seem obvious that your name goes on the outside of the book where everyone can see it. We all know of course that names should go on the inside of a book, because its neater and that is where everyone puts them. I wonder how much we do because we are simply conditioned to do it in a certain way. Perhaps there is a more obvious, perfectly logical, way of doing it that we simply don't notice because we are in a cultural habit.
My nephew, Oliver, has not been very well the last couple of weeks. In fact he has been in hospital for the last couple of days. The good news is that the doctors have let him go home this afternoon. He has had sickness and dihorrea for the last week, but is just beginning to keep things "down".
As a result, I am sat with Isaac, Alice and William (Oliver's brother), in the dark, watching Wallace and Gromit. The kids are gripped but get annoyed every time I laugh at the adult humor. It is very funny, well worth watching if you have the time! I like having kids, its great, you have an excuse for watching all their films (there are other good reasons of course!).
Elizabeth is growing up quickly. Everyday she is learning new words. Some of our favourites are:
"bibbished" = finished
"babyahh" = baby ahh (said at random intervals whenever there is a dolly near by)
"soose, coat, car" = Shoes, Coat and Car in that order usually straight after breakfast... but she goes to bed instead.
"more" = more
"peese" = please
"mummy, mummy, mummy"
"cheese" = cheese, though it can be a little difficult to distinguish beteen cheese and please.
"poo", usually said when she hasn't done one but wants to get out of the push chair.
"ow", often said when hurt, but this week she walked up to Louise stroked her head and said "ow" , "ow" said Louise, "why". Then she hit her over the head with a toy!
Isaac got married last week. I didn't go, not because I don't like his new wife but because I thought I wasn't allowed!
Louise took some excellent photo's though.
His teachers are very creative. Isaac has learned more about weddings than can ever be explained by watching a video.
Alice came back from her play school this morning singing a new song.
I love the way she gets Huge mixed up with Fuge

Some time ago our friends Andy and Alison Boston, with Lydia and Dominic visited us to help us with some youth work at church. While they were up we visited Leighton Moss nature reserve.
During the visit, someone accosted us with a camera and made us look at a tree while they took photos. We appear to have made it into a guide about South Lakeland attractions under the guise of a "guided walk". I have looked for a PDF of the guide but can't find one. Click on the photo and you can see the whole page.
