Sickness, Wet Beds and Sleepless Nights

Alice and Louise recovered from being sick on Thursday very quickly.   Isaac started on Friday, and was still being sick yesterday, it is probably over now.  Dibby and I have survived so far.

Last night was the worst night with Isaac coming down several times.  Tonight Alice woke me up, but only because she couldn't find any clean pajamas (we have taken the buld out of her room because she gets up in the middle of the night to play).

The result is that at 4:30 am, I am wide awake (again).

Graham: You look like something from "The Sound of Music"

Isaac: You can't see music you can only hear it.

Louise and Graham: Helpless Laughter.

Alice and a Pinata

2005-09-18-alice-and-her-pinata-thumb.jpgAlice is having a Pinata for her birthday.  She has rather taken to it, infact she has taken it so much that she is a bit reluctant to let any one hit it!

Louise found some soft toys (from the present box, there is a story in its self there).  We gave her a little rabbitt to "look after" for a a couple of hours.  We told her that she could have it on her birthday if she let people hit her Pinata.  She wasn't very convinced.

A couple of days of persuasion (mainly from Louise) she was saying "That's my Pinata and I'm going to hit it!"

kids_before_crabbing_in_morecambe_thumb.JPGI have been away from my blog for a few weeks now. We had a couple of weeks holiday and then I haven't got back into the rythm since getting back from holiday.

Our holiday was excellent. In fact we have had an ace summer. These are a couple of photos of the kids before and after crabbing with their cousins.

Learning to play chess.

I have been teaching Isaac how to play chess (Mum started it). It's a bit like playing yourself. Playing yourself is not the most interesting of games because you always know what your next move is!

It is interesting that without realising I am teaching Isaac my standard chess strategy. It will be odd when he starts to think for himself and takes me by surprise.

The only disappointing thing about playing chess with a five year old is that you start to long for proper game. I asked Louise to play me, but she said what I feared she would say...

"No, I'll only end up deliberately loosing to end the game quickly".

I ask you how can you dislike chess?

Nuts about 4 am!

It's 4:30 am and I am up and playing again. It's not that I go out of my way to be up at this unearthly hour, it's just that something wakes me up and my brain is saying "Let's go!"

There are some special things about my early morning time.

  1. I get more done.
  2. It is quiet (rare in our house).
  3. It is like my own time. I get 3 hours when I can do whatever I want, there are no pressures.

What do I do.

  • Sometimes I work.
  • Sometimes I cook up a hair-brained scheme.
  • I drink coffee (lots of it)
  • I often have an early breakfast.
  • Sometimes I watch the news (Courtesy of news.bbc.co.uk).
  • Sometimes I blog.
  • Sometimes I play with my websites.
  • Sometimes I play.
  • Sometimes I bargain hunt.
  • Sometimes I sit and enjoy the silence.
  • Sometimes I put my headphones on and play loud music. (ELO this morning, probably followed by Gypsy Kings.

Early mornings.... I love them.

Fossils on the Beach at Morecambe

We were outside the Midland Hotel this week sitting on the beach enjoying the pebbles and the sun. Elizabeth was picking up every stone and sucking the salt off it. We fished this one out of her mouth.

Weekend in Scotland

We have just spent a nice relaxing weekend in Scotlan.  We stayed at Auchenlarie caravan park (map) which was fantastic, overlooking the Irish Sea.  I spent the whole weekend in shorts (and not just because I forgot to pack trousers).  Alice found two dogs on the caravan next door which she gave sticks to look after.PICT0047.JPG

Feeling fully relaxed, I am about to go and spent the morning back at the churches drop in centre!

Isaac was eating some Smarties yesterday.  As he ate he pondered "If one hundered people worked at a Smarty factory and elleven left, how many smarties would they make?" - Good question.
